What is Stress?
Stress may be defined as “The reaction people have to an imbalance between the demands they perceive to be placed upon them and their resources to cope". It now has been described as the illness of today. According to The Royal College of General Practitioners, some 80% of patients sitting in the doctor's surgery are there because of a stress related or psychosomatic illness. According to The Health & Safety Executive, 360 million working days are lost annually in the United Kingdom sad half of these absences are stress-related. The results or a recent national survey into stress at work reveal that every day of the week 270,000 people are absent from work with a stress-related illness.
