In the latter part of the 20th century, advances in the study of psychology and related areas made the way in which we take control of our lives now so much easer, so mush more powerful. Coaching, NLP, Hypnotherapy and advanced learning techniques have made much of what restricted and limited people in the 20thC now irrelevant.
Take phobias, the methods used in the beginning of the 20thC to get rid of a phobia would have taken years; in the mid 20thC it took weeks; now any phobia can be over come in just a mater of hours.
Smoking is also an example of the advances made. Will power gives a result of about 20%; patches and the like, 40%; hypnotherapy, NLP, Alan Carr method all far our perform the other methods.
Education is also an area which has made great strides. Each year, when the school exam results are published, there is a howl from the media about falling standards and how things were so much harder in their day. Well, something that is not said is that the advance in exam results is about the same as that of athletics, however you do not read about the 100m sprint being shortened. So where are these advances coming from. It is the application of some of the advances in the understanding of the mind. The study techniques now available can lift any student to the highest level with minimum work.
